I am descended from Elizabeth Bell and John Barnfather, who married on Boxing Day 1767 in Alston. There are no earlier records of any Barnfathers in Alston, so he must have moved in from somewhere. His father could be William B, bapt. Lanercost 18/1/1717, but there are other possibilities.
