I am descended from Thomas Barnfather who married Mary Maughan in Lanchester on 20 August  1782.  Thomas is described as a native of Brancepeth at his wedding and I've not tracked down any  Brancepeth  Barnfathers. However, I've now established that Thomas wasn't born at Brancepeth, but at Lanchester.
